MARK DEVENS, BS, CPO, LO, LP
President

During his US Navy enlistment 1972-1976, Mark served as a Hospital Corpsman and continued advance training as an Operating Room Technician assigned to the US Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA.  Following his Naval service, he continued as an Operating Room Technician at Children’s’ Memorial Hospital in Chicago, working in orthopedics and neurosurgery.  After acceptance into the University of Washington Orthotics and Prosthetics Program, Mark earned a B.Sc. in Orthotics and Prosthetics in 1982.

While in college he worked as an Operating Room Technician at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Washington, concentrating on orthopedic cases and working with many renowned orthopedic physicians such as Dr. Ernest Burgess and Dr. Sigvard Hansen.  Upon graduation, Mark completed a residency in orthotics (1982-1983) at Riley Children’s’ Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.

Mark joined a private practice in Chicago from 1983. In 1985, Mark started MD Orthotic & Prosthetic Laboratory, Inc.  In the last 25 years, Mark’s service and experience have included:
  • Attendance at clinics at Children’s Memorial Hospital, including General Orthopedics with Dr. Norris Carroll
  • Spina Bifida Clinic with Dr. David Mclone
  • Scoliosis Clinic with Drs. Sarwark, Grayhack and King
Mark has lectured at both national and international conferences on pediatric orthotic care, as well as participating in the 3-part International Conference on Spina Bifida in Chicago, Japan and Italy.  He has published articles in the Journal of Prosthetics & Orthotics concerning pediatric orthotic care and has been issued 2 patents from the US Patent Office for inventions covering pediatric orthopedic devices.

Mark also served as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University for the Orthotics Program, lecturing on Scoliosis Bracing.

In 2005, Mark completed his certification in Prosthetics and has since helped establish two Prosthetic Clinics with Dr. Mark Tracy in the South Chicago region to provide care to amputees.

Mark is a Past President of the Illinois Society of Orthotists and Prosthetists and was involved in the passage and enactment of the State of Illinois Orthotic and Prosthetic Practice Act, which ensures Illinois citizens enjoy the highest standards of care.

He is licensed in the State of Illinois as both an Orthotist (LO), and Prosthetist (LP), is certified by The American Board for Certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics (CPO) and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists.

Mark lives with his wife Noreen and children, Chloe and Neil, in Lombard.

RACHEL RAUB CP, LP
Director, Prosthetic Department

Rachel received a B.Sc. from the University of Dubuque in 2001. She attended Century College, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and was awarded Certificates from the Prosthetic Technician Program and the Prosthetic Practitioner Program.

She completed her residency at American O & P at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and became certified in Prosthetics by the American Board for Certification in 2004.

Rachel is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists, and is licensed in the State of Illinois as a Prosthetist.  She holds advanced training certificates in the Otto Bock C-Leg, Harmony System, MAS Socket Technology, and Myoelectric Upper Extremity.

Rachel’s rapport with patients along with her professional skills and clinical judgment have enhanced the success achieved by our prosthetic department.

Rachel originally hails from Iowa and is involved in many sports activities.

PAWEL BRZOZKA, M.Sc.
Prosthetic Resident

Pawel is a native of Bialystok, Poland, where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Electromechanical Engineering in 2004 and another Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Engineering in 2006, both from Bialystok Technical University, Poland.  Pawel started working at MD LABS as a Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician in 2007 and recently completed the Prosthetic Program at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Pawel's background and experience provides him with excellent clinical and technical skills in treating patients. Pawel is proficient in CAD/CAM scanning and design, and he has extensive experience in the latest prosthetic fabrication techniques and technology.

Pawel speaks fluent Polish and has been active in establishing superb prosthetic care for the Chicago area Polish Community.  Pawel is an avid outdoors enthusiast and traveler.

JOHN S. ADAMSKI
Senior Orthotist

John brings more than 33 years of experience and insight to providing expert compassionate orthotic care.  He has been with MD Orthotic-Prosthetic Labs since 1987 when he established our first South Region Office in that year.  John attended Northwestern University’s School of Orthotics and Prosthetics in 1977 and achieved Certification in Orthotics in 1978. He is one of the first Licensed Orthotists in the State of Illinois.

John specializes in Scoliosis and Spinal Orthotics, Geriatric Orthotics and has a special interest and expertise in Diabetic and PVD Wound Care Orthotics.

John is a Vietnam Era Veteran, Past President of the Illinois Society of Orthotists, Prosthetists and Pedorthists, a Member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and a Fellow of the Academy.

SHENAN HOPPE-LUDWIG
Orthotist

Shenan completed her Orthotic training at Northwestern University Orthotics Program in 2008. She joined MD LABS and completed her Residency in Orthotics August 2009.  Prior to attending Northwestern, Shenan received a B.A. degree in Biology from Augustana College, and has continued work as a Physical Therapy Aid and EMG Assistant at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Shenan has been active in volunteering and leadership activities with many organizations including Little Brothers, Leukemia Society, Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics.

Shenan brings a high level of compassion and personal interaction to her patient care, and her commitment to patient satisfaction is reflected in her positive patient feedback.

ROB KROLL
Director of CAD/CAM, Central Fabrication, Purchasing

Rob joined MD LABS originally in 1998 as a Technician and worked fabricating prosthetic devices. Because of his desire to further his education and enhance his computer skills, he left MD LABS to attend The Chubb Institute of Technology, obtaining a diploma in Business Applications.  Rob then rejoined MD LABS as the Director of CAD/CAM Services after MD LABS installed a complete CAD/CAM System.

Rob has been instrumental in initiating use and the success of the CAD/CAM program, along with developing Central Fabrication Services for other orthotic and prosthetic facilities.  Rob is proficient in all aspects of Computer Aided Design and carving of prosthetic sockets, TLSO, Scoliosis TLSO’s and KAFO’s.

Rob coordinates the scanning, design and carving of the models along with the Technical Staff, and interacting with orthotic and prosthetic professionals who depend on MD LABS for communication, quality and cost-effective production of devices.  In addition, Rob coordinates all purchasing and stocking of supplies, materials and components needed to operate MD LABS and Central Fabrication services.

JAMEL KELLOGG
Senior Technician

Jamel has been fabricating prosthetic and orthotic devices for 20 years.  He joined MD LABS in  2004 and is responsible for coordinating fabrication and quality control. Jamel’s experience in all facets of fabrication allows MD LABS the ability to produce high-quality devices quickly for hospital calls and emergency needs.

Because of our skill and CAD/CAM capabilities, Jamel produces central fabrication devices for others who want only the highest quality.  Jamel is proficient assisting the practitioner with the treatment of prosthetic and orthotic patients in dynamic alignment, adjustments and training.

MARGARET BLAKE
Business Manager

Peggy joined MD LABS in 2000.  She is responsible for maintaining the Practice Standards required by A.B.C., Medicare and various health insurers, as well as coordinating the day-to-day administrative demands required to ensure MD LABS remains compliant in all aspects of providing quality prosthetic and orthotic care to the dozens of hospitals, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities and office sites with which MD LABS interacts on a daily basis.

Peggy is also responsible for maintaining relationships with Managed Care programs, complying with billing standards, and patient benefit coordination.  An expert in Medicare billing and regulations, Peggy provides competent judgment and assists many of our referral sources in questions they have regarding orthotic and prosthetic care.

Peggy is married, lives on the South Side of Chicago, and has five boys to occupy her spare time.

DIANE WITKOWSKI
Office Manager

Diane has been with MD LABS since 1992 and has become an integral part of our success.  Her interaction with patients, professionals and staff helps make MD LABS perform efficiently as she assists everyone navigate the myriad health care bureaucracies.

Diane can assist hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices and patients with scheduling, benefits and follow up care.

SCOTT ALLEN
Billing & Collections

Scott joined MD LABS in 2003.  He is responsible for billing and collections, and brings attention to detail, compassion and flexibility to a difficult position.  He coordinates benefits with all insurers and handles follow-up with patients and third party payers.  Scott is proficient in resolving claim issues and making sure benefits are paid correctly.  He works with patients and has the ability to structure many types of payment plans so that no one is financially burdened unnecessarily.

Scott has two sons and is active in their baseball leagues.

ROBIN MACKEY
Office Assistant

Robin coordinates the scheduling and patient follow up at our Western Avenue Office and south region.  She has been with MD LABS since 2007.  Robin also assists with coordinating benefits and scheduling with hospitals and nursing homes for the south region.
